Games

"As much as we want to keep everybody, we've already made these guys very, very rich, and I don't feel we owe anybody anything monetarily. Some of these players are wealthier than their bosses." -- Hank Steinbrenner

I read that in this article, and thought, Oh, this is the Onion or Bleacher Report or something. Turns out it's a real quote! This Yankees-Jeter BS is getting comical.

The really interesting part is that it appears the Yankees and the rest of the sane world have something in common. We know that cheering from the top step or having a pretty face doesn't make you a good baseball player. Still, I figured they'd just give the guy whatever he wants just to avoid backlash and because they can. Instead, they're all, "An old, crappy player wants all this money? He's already rich! We'd rather win!"

I win either way. Jeter on the Royals is hilarious. Jeter on the Yanks means they're not as good as they could be. Just keep all this shit comin'.

Randomonium Episode 6!

On Halloween weekend, I went to the Colbert Rally in DC and the Village Halloween Parade in NYC, and thought I'd get two Randomonium episodes out of it. However, even though I was pretty close to the stage at Colbert, there was a tent between me and everyone's head. Maybe I'll post some of that video separately, but only the Halloween Parade ended up being episode-worthy. So here it is. Randomonium episode 6, hosted by me. I ended up doing it in the "list of the best costumes" format. Hope you enjoy. If you do, please pass the video on to friends/family. Thanks. All the other episodes are available on the Randomonium page.

Victor To Detroit?

Looks like Victor Martinez may be signing with the Tigers. If it is the case that Victor's gone, he gave us some above-his-norm numbers in that year and a half and we couldn't have asked for more than that. And now he's getting toward mid-30s and can't give you too much behind the plate any more so.... we'll see if this rumor is truth first.

The Book Of Unncessary Quotation Marks

Of all the ideas I have that I don't do anything with only to see someone else bring to the public....this one I reeeeally should have moved on. I think it's hilarious when people put things in quotes for no reason, from grandma putting "happy birthday" in quotes on a card to your friend putting the year in quotes when signing your yearbook. I got to flip through this book and there are some hilarious examples in there.

(And yes I know this blog belongs in the unnecessary capital letters category, since I capitalize even the prepositions and articles in my post titles--I do that for tradition's sake...and also so I never have to make a decision on ones that are four or more letters long.)
