Holy Crap!

A US Airways jet landed on the Hudson River.... not IN the river, ON the river. It's floating on the water! And rescue boats are all around. Crazy.

[Update: Plane hit birds, pilot took it down, made beautiful water landing, everyone survived. Amazing. Can't wait to see the video of this one. Reuters photo.]

Comments:
Canadian geese + Jet Engines = FAIL.

Glad everyone got out safe. Now I can laugh about it!

Truly amazing. Absolutely fantastic job on the rescue.

And AJM, a tremendous job by the pilots as well as the crew. He knew he couldn't make it back to the airport at only 3000 plus feet and NO power, so his did a tail first hard landing on the river. He is a hero. He used to fly F-4s. Amazing stuff. 5-7 minutes in 39 degree water will kill a person. Literally. Everytime.

Yep, it became clear last night that the pilot is a real hero. So Chesley Sullenberger along with all involved in the rescue all merit the ultimate Anti-Terrible Job.
