WICKED
Congratulations, Sid! A no-hitter. I only saw the first few innings of this one, and I hadn't even realized he had one going. Which is weird since I usually think no-hitter after the first out of the game.
We were playing softball--I made six catches in the field, some of them of the diving/tumbling variety, as we lost to a team of virtual professionals. Come on, it's supposed to be rec league.--but we had a message from my parents waiting for us when we got to the car that Lester had done it. Sa-weet.
So now Hughes and Kennedy have both pitched no-hitters. Oh wait, not Hughes and Kennedy...Lester and Buccholz!!!!!!!!!!!
In honor of the no-hitter, here's a pic I took of Jon before yesterday's game:
So, they finally put the little Ts on the calendar for the first June homestand. (They recently took away the Ts for all the summer games.) So it appears my theory is correct--they'll just put up the Ts as we approach each homestand of the summer, and once you see the T, you can buy tickets. Lots available, including seats together, for those June games. And still some left for this week. At the very least, you should always be able to get left field pavilion reserved for any series, as they haven't sold any of those at all yet, they're doing it one series at a time.
Ump admits he was wrong on that Mets-Yanks would-be dong. And says the F word several times in doing so!
Thurman Munson's family decides to "get ridda some o' this junk." Seriously, George, one of your ex-players who was immensely popular and who died tragically in the middle of his career has a family that's so strapped for cash, they're selling off the guy's World Series rings! Little help! Or hey, maybe they're just sick of looking at it, but I kinda doubt it.

Great moment, of course for Lester. Was he really hitting 96 mph in the 9th inning? His last few starts have been very encouraging...looks like he's finally developing solid control of the strike zone.
So, let's see: Buchholz last year, Lester this year...Justin Masterson clearly has his work cut out for him.
And the really maddening thing about that blown call Sunday night in the Bronx is that the ump initally got the call right, and then allowed himself to be overruled by the other umps who had a worse view of the play, and who clearly had no idea of what actually happened. Unless you are 100% certain of what you saw, you have no business overruling a call.

Nobody will read this at this point. But I went back and searched my blog to see if I'd ever spelled Buchholz wrong. And I did, once, in this post. Terrible job, me!!!!
