The Unmoving 26
Lots of good stuff in Lupica today.
Did you see what Heir-Head #2, Hal Steinbrenner said about the Red Sox? I saw this on Joy of Sox. It's from a GQ interview he did. (The interviewer is a Sox fan.)
GQ Dude: Are you willing to concede that Boston, my favorite team, is the superior organization right now?
Hal: No, I will never concede. They’ve got a lot of talent, and you’ve done very well the past few years, but let me put it this way: I don’t think you guys wanted to play us in the ALCS. So I will concede nothing. I think we’re better than you.
Nice to see the fans and the owner are on the same page over there. "Sure, you may have ACTUALLY WON, but we're better. Rocks for brains, I tell you. This is why Red Sox fans are better fans. I'm just stating a very obvious fact. Imagine if you heard a Red Sox fan say, "Well, we didn't win for 86 years, but over those 86, we really were the best team each year, and that's all that matters. We were the TRUE winners." You can't win every year, Yankee fans (and owners). I'm not saying you should take losing lying down, but for god's sake, admit that it happened. Here's a handy "losing chart" for you to practice your admitting skills: 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001. Years in bold indicate admitting the Red Sox won the World Series is also necessary.
