Representation
Do you think of states as being certain colors? I'm sure it has to do with the color they were on whatever map or puzzle you had when you were little. To me, Connecticut is light blue. California and Mass are pink. Florida is always yellow. New York is that orangey color. Minnesota is yellow, too. Does this make any sense to anyone? Idaho is green, I think. Oh and Montana is also yellow. Wyoming's pink. Anyway...
Joy of Sox is in the finals for Best Canadian Sports Blog of '07. Vote for him here.
We Move to Canada is up for Best Canadian Progressive blog. Vote for her here.
Vote through January 30th. They say one per day, but in round one, it seemed like if I voted and then waited a day or two and voted again, the second vote counted, too. So just go whenever you think of it and vote, please. Thank you.
I'd like to go to a general assembly meeting in Philly and yell "Dewey" at the this guy.

I don't do that with states. But I do assign genders to letters and numbers. I don't know why. Maybe since Sesame Street always made the letter of the day an actual character? It also has something to do with curves and straight lines. I probably will regret that I admitted this.
Never heard of that one....
So who are the men? 1, 4, and 7? I think 2 and 5 might be hermaphrodites. And 9 and 6 depending on the way you make them.

Ditto on the numbers. Male: 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 0; Female: 2, 6, 8, 9. 1 Yellow, 2 blue, 3 red, 4 blue, 5 orange, 6 pinkish, 7 black, 8 lavender, 9 reddish orange.
Yes, I know how crazy this is.

Ryan, I'm completely amazed that not only do we share this same quirk, but the gender assignments are EXACTLY the same! Exactly. No hermaphrodites here, Jere.
I don't have color assignments on mine though. The letters are easier. It seems all of the curvy ones (with the exception of C) are female. There are more males than females. 16 males, 10 females.

I don't know gender of numbers, I just know which ones I like and don't like:
0, 1, 3, 8, 9 can sleep in my guest room any time they need to.
2, 4, 5, and 7 just rub me the wrong way.
6, eh, I wouldn't throw it outta bed for eatin' crackers.
Some numbers can come to the good side if paired with a good number. Like, 17 is pretty cool. Whereas with 59, the bad of 5 just drags 9 down with it.
Another thing: I always think of 2 as an odd number for some reason.
