I Still Hate A-Rod

What a tool. Can he possibly make people like him even less? Yes. After his big opt-out announcement that interrupted the Wold Series, it looks like he'll stay with the Yanks anyway. This after Hank Steinbrenner ripped him and said, "I don't want anybody on my team that doesn't want to be a Yankee."

And now, supposedly, the Yanks want to get Lowell to play first for them. For Lowell to accept their offer, he'd be saying, "I care about money more than I do about winning AND I'd change positions and play for my rival if enough dough is thrown at me." That's not the Mike Lowell I know.

Also, with Lowell at first, the age of their first basemen for the next four years would be: 34, 35, 36/38, 37/39, with those last two being a Lowell/Posada platoon. You see why this isn't happening?

Saw on channel 7 news that four teams have offered Lowell four-year deals, and that he's waiting for the Sox to offer four. Surely, they can figure this one out....

Comments:
I think Im gonan be sick. This HAS to be stopped. Four years is WORTH preventing the Yanks from feilding Lowell and A-Rod for even a signle season.

Mom here (my password is proving unacceptable once again):
Meanwhile, I just read that after the Red Sox play their first two games in Japan, they have a four-game exhibition series in L.A. Hopefully, that will get them acclimated. Dice-K might have to miss out since his wife will be delivering offspring #2 right at that time.

Hi Jere. I'll try to do the math. Let's see....two plus two is.....uh, FOUR! Why won't the Sox front office act? Lowell at Fenway Park's third for two years, with Youk, who is the best there, bar none, at first, and then...then...a switch! We'd all be happy. But sometimes life in RSN has its ups and downs. This will end up to be an up. We've had so very many ups lately. I so hope it can happen again. I know you do too.

Hi Mary-Ann. I heard the same thing too. The biggest drawback, other than cutting spring training short by two weeks, is the dreaded jet lag. Two exhibitions on the west coast, and then resuming the very young 2008 season in Oakland should be OK. Looking forward to the new book!! Peter N.

Lowell was raised a Yankee. He already is playing for "his" rival.

Your comment is just so silly. Players are not fans. They do not develop lifelong emotional relationships with teams like we do. They would be fools to do so. They could be traded, or dumped at any time.

And most normal people do not hate A-Rod. Only loudmouth fans who really need to get their life priorities straight. A-Rod is no different from any other player. He does what he does to get the best deal for himself. Just like teams do what they do with, or to, players in order to get the best deals for themselves.

The thing about A-Rod is just that he has no respect. No respect for the game--"MINE!"--or for even the team he's claimed to love for the past four years. He plays dirty, as Boston fans will constantly remind you of (see: Bronson Arroyo ball-slapping; Dustin Pedroia elbowing; etc). He follows the money, wherever it takes him, and has no loyalty or, to use the word yet again, RESPECT for his team. His ego is roughly the size of Jupiter, on top of this, and Scott I-can-negotiate-Satan-into-heaven Boras only fuels this delusion that he's God's gift to baseball.

He may be deserving of 2007 AL MVP, but he deserves nothing else.

And about Lowell, the whole third base thing is making me lose sleep. Note to Theo: when you're make little girls lose sleep over the fact that their idolized team is not offering the World Series MVP what he wants to stay in this city he loves, YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. No offense.

Hey, look, A-Rod himself reads your blog ... AND he posts! What an amazing talent!

Exactly what I was thinking.
