Update On The Donnely Thing
Here's the history of Donnely and Guillen. From June '05:
Brendan Donnelly comes in to pitch for the Angels in a close game.
- Frank Robinson asks the umps to check Donnelly's glove for a foreign substance. It's not clear why Robinson thought to do this, but its speculated that former Angel and current National, Jose Guillen tipped Robinson off. Guillen and Angel's manager Mike Scioscia had a very turbulent relationship last year, so Guillen probably want to stick it to his former manager and team.
- The umpires discover pine tar on the heel of Donnelly's glove and eject him. Donnelly says its to keep his hand dry
Here's ESPN's story about the incident. Rem and Don still haven't figured it out. Don't they have Google? (Update: They finally figured it out. At least they did before the game ended.)
