Nobody's Little Weasel
Amalie "(Ice Cold) 3000" Benjamin is the newest writer on boston.com's Extra Bases "blog." EB was always pretty cool, but bland and not updated often enough. Amalie makes it more personal, like, "Here I am with the Red Sox and here's what's going on and I can't wait to tell you what happens next." It's working so far. So click over there, but make sure you ignore all the "ssilva" posts!
Note: On Colbert just now, they committed one of my pet peeves--saying "J.J. Walker." It was Jimmie Walker. (He played the character J.J. Evans.) God!

Jere, I've enjoyed her writing for a good while! And sssilva who? Just kidding, but he's on my s**t list. Enjoy the weekend, my friend.
Hey Jere,
I know you hate Steve Silva - I'm not a big fan myself - so I thought you'd want to know that he just posted on the boston.com blog that Keith Foulke is retiring. This is important news and as such requires a mini retrospective on Foulke's career. Silva does a little of that, but guess which part of his career he choses to highlight? Its not the 20 scoreless innings in the 2004 playoffs, its the 'burger king' comment, which he publishes (yet again) in its entirity.
Seriously, is there any need to relive that crap again? The guy's career is over. Can't this total dick point out something decent he's done, like, oh I don't know... helping Boston win the World Series for the first time in 86 years?
What an a-hole.
Oh, here's the link: www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2007/02/report_foulke_t.html

Great call, Matthew. Thanks. It made me so mad reading that, that they'd let that guy actually write for the paper, and then let his personal feelings get in the way of the story. Foulke was a great guy with the fans--and, oh yeah, threw one pitch none of us will ever forget, on top of all the other important ones he threw.
Pete, yeah, she's been around for a while, but I think she's just starting in the EB role, which really works for her.
