Might As Well Jump

Huge news in WKRP-land today. I got the email from Amazon saying that, thanks to the demands of myself and othres, WKRP In Cincinnati will be released on DVD, starting with the first three seasons. Word still doesn't seem to be out on whether the DVDs will have the original songs from the show or the replacements used in syndication. My opinion is, on a show about a radio station, they should do all they can to get the original songs back.

Either way, 'KRP will soon be available in all of our homes. It's safe to say we're all Cincinnatians today.

Comments:
Awesome ... I loved that show when I was, uh, younger ...

There is practically zero chance of them buying all the rights to the songs used in the show. This will probably prevent me from buying any of the DVDs.

Good job my friend. Haven't seen WKPR in donkey's years, and looking forward to seeing it on DVD. Let's hope they do a better job on the music than Married With Children did on DVD. They actually had to replace "Love and Marriage" on the newer releases with some ersatz version that supposed to sound like it, and that sounds so terrible that I skip to the show right away and forego the opening credits.

Terrible job, guys.

Wow, TJ indeed. This post is, like, the "over 30" post! Any other oldies wanna chime in on the KRP topic?

We're old now. Heh heh. Weird.

"Any other oldies wanna chime in on the KRP topic?"

You might as well have just said "Paging AJM! Paging AJM!"

Okay, I'll come right out and say it: Bailey Quarters was VERY hot, and VERY underrated. Far hotter than the wildly overrated Jennifer Marlowe. Loni Anderson was the Derek Jeter of late-'70's sitcoms.

And that was a great ensemble cast, and just an incredibly well-written, funny show. But you weren't old enough to watch it during it's original run, Jere?

Can you believe they actually made a "New WKRP" in the early '90's?

You've pretty much stated the motto of this blog. As well as that of any other sane American. My girlfriend--also in the over 30 crowd, mind you--and I were just talking about Bailey a few weeks ago. I can't remember why. I think it was some crazy connection I made about popular blondes and underrated non-blondes, and I cited the Bailey example.

It ended in late '82, so I'd say I caught the tail end of the live episodes. Actually, what am I saying? I totally remember the entrance of Bailey. Everyone assumed she was a dude, like John Bailey or something, until she showed up. Yeah, Greatest American Hero debuted in 1981, and I watched the first episode, so by then I was ensconsed in TV shows.

TJ on New KRP.
