So-so Cano Soho

Actually Sohu, as in, the so-so Robinson Cano finished south of Huston Street in the A.L. Rookie of the Year voting. Another award not won by a yankee. Good stuff.

Also, check out the new cartoon over at the place with the cartoons. It's done in choose-your-own-adventure style. In one shot, you see someone dressed as the Greatest American Hero for Halloween in a picture in the background, much like I once did. Too bad I didn't get a picture of the guy in Sunday's marathon who dressed like The GAH. I feel like I've been living in a GAH-an society lately. Words are very unnecessary.

Comments:
Street was a pretty easy choice for anybody who isn't a Yankee fan. Frankly Jonny Gomes should have finished higher than Cano in the voting; the fact that he didn't reflects NY media bias.

Probably true.

I was in an episode of Greatest American Hero, the one they filmed in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Used to live there a couple months a year (my parents had a beautiful house there which was great when they were up here. But then Hurricane Hugo came to visit.) and they picked me as an extra WITH LINES. That was a big deal to me. What's her name (Connie Seleca?) was hot back then, but she was married at the time to an actor whose name escapes me. She was all ga-ga over me, but that's a story for the vault. Now I'm reduced to selling autographs and blog writing (commenting), not that there's anything wrong with that.

Holy crap!!!! Tell me which exact episode, or your lines, or something. I was gonna buy the DVDs but inexplicably didn't. Now I have a definite reason to. Please, more info.

Sellecca was married to the dude who played Buck Rogers, and, per imdb, "Has a tattoo of a peach on her behind." But she's not from Georgia, she's from The Bronx.

My Matt Clement autograph on my paycheck envelope is not for sale. But I may consider giving up my Brandon Lyon on a ticket stub if you think you could get some cash for it, heh heh.

All I remember of the episode was that it was filmed in St. Croix. I don't remember the title, but it had its usual lame plot that was designed to showcase the Island's beauty more so than any "beauty" in its plot line. I was one of the guys on the beach- they filmed at a Hotel just down the hill from my parents house-we called it the Beach Hotel, although that really wasn't its formal name. This was in the latter or middle 80s, so forgive me if my memory is a little fuzzy. It was fun, and Culp seemed like such a cool guy I'd think, what's he doing with this bunch? But somehow, the show almost worked, as you know. I remember the tatoo.

Peter, I still can't get over your line "I was in an episode of Greatest American Hero." I'd have been psyched to learn that any of my readers was in any episode of any TV show, but the fact that you were in a GAH just blows me away. There was one episode from seaon 2 where they search for a creature that lives in the Bermuda Triangle. This could be your episode. I'll probably get the deuce first and check that out. If it's not on there, I'll try season 3, then 1, since 1 was the shortest, and if you say mid-to late-80s, and the show went 81-83, I'd guess you were closer to a 3 than a 1.

Wow, that long ago. Holy fuck! I think it was the last season, and positvely NOT the first.
