Rhode Island Creature/Rays Lose
Rays lose! Sox up 2-0, can close to 1.5 with a win. And if the Yanks lose today, they're in fourth place.
Meanwhile, I was just in the back yard. What the H is this thing? I thought it was a mosquito, and I was kinda scared it would sting me. But I checked the internet, and now I think it's a dragonfly. There's talk of them curling up their abdomens to look tougher than they are since they have no stinger. But then what's that long thing sticking out of its butt right into the tree?

It's an ichneumon wasp, depositing her eggs in the wood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichneumon_wasp
Wow. Thanks. That's definitely what seemed to be happening. I saw her pull it out and everything.
From that wiki page:
"Charles Darwin found the grisly life cycles of ichneumons wasps incompatible with the central notion of natural theology which saw the study of nature as a way to demonstrate God's benevolence. In a letter to American botanist Asa Gray, Darwin wrote
"I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created the Ichneumonidae with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of Caterpillars, or that a cat should play with mice.""
